A sunny day on the Headland

For once the weather forecast was right, sunny and warm - redwings still flying in, a long eared owl hiding in the plantation, goldcrests, robins and chiffs all showing well.

Oh, and the RSPB East Yorkshire Local Group were spotted doing a bit of seawatching?

A (slow) walk round the Head

Chris Packham was right - a good day for birds!!  The easterly proved its worth with 100s of Redwing, Brambling, a tired Siskin and Goldcrests flitting as only Goldcrests can.  Plus a bonus ring Ouzel at the fog station (sorry for the poor photo - need a box to stand on!).

had a better(?) if wetter cruise today - with a bonxie fly by - it looks as bedraggled as did everyone on the boat - and coming back across the bay in the face of imminent gale force...........

tern and tern again...

The RSPB cruise today didn't produce much (ie none) of the desired species but did provide photo opps for Common Tern, and a Slavonian Grebe masqueraded as the black-necked variety until the photos were downloaded - ah well can't win 'em all....

The squirrels provided the usual gymnastic spectacular, expensive to keep the feeders full but worth it for the entertainment value

Spent about six hours wandering the Head, a bit quiet but found a few birds to photograph....  and have gone from seeing a Redstart in the garden for the first time, to it now appearing five days running....

don't really think this shows the light as it was, but quite like anyway .....
